How we check our guides
We check our guides with care. We're also human.
We want every trip you plan with us to go smoothly, so we keep our guides as accurate and current as we can. We also know details change, and we'd rather be honest about that than pretend otherwise.
Verified October 2026How we verify
We go back over our guides every month
What we look at, once a month
On every guide on this site
- Links, to make sure they still open and go where they should
- Key prices, like park passes, tickets and fares
- Opening hours and closed days
- Closures, and booking or permit rules
In short
- Gone over once a month
- Official links to check for yourself
- Closures fixed when we learn of them
- The month we last went over it
From a real guide
What a check looks like
Here’s one line from our Big Bend guide, next to the official page it points to. When we go back over the guide, we make sure the link still opens and goes where it should.

Alerts & Conditions - Big Bend National Park
- What we look at
- That the link still opens and goes to the park’s own conditions page.
- What it’s for
- Road status changes with storms, so the park’s page has the final word. Check it close to your trip.
How we keep our guides current
We review and check details regularly, and once a month we go back over the guides on this site. We make sure links still open, and we look up key details on the official sites that set them.
We open the links
To make sure they still open and go where they should.
We look up key details
Key prices, opening hours and closed days, closures, and booking or permit rules, on the official sites that set them.
We fix what changed
When we update a guide, we fix the detail and the official link that backs it up.
Then the date
We only change the date after we’ve actually gone back over the guide.
What our guides give you
So you can check for yourself.
- Official links to the parks, venues and transport we mention
- A “check before you go” list, with a link for each key detail
- Direct references to the research behind the guide
- The month we last went over it

How to use our guides
A few habits that make for an easier trip.
Start with the plan
Use the guide to shape your days: where to go, in what order, and what to book first.
Open the official links
We link the official sites for the parks, venues and transport in each guide. They have the final word on prices, hours and rules.
Use the “check before you go” list
It gathers the details most likely to change, like prices, timed entry and closures, with a link to check each one.
Look at our references
We link the reporting and research behind each guide, so you can see where things came from.
Check again close to your trip
A price, an opening time or a booking rule can change between our checks. A quick look a few days before you go is worth it.
“We can't promise we'll never miss something. We can promise real care, and a real effort to get it right.”
When something changes
- Safety and closures don't wait. If a trail, road or site in a guide has closed, we fix that page as soon as we know, not at the next monthly pass, and add a dated note so you can see what changed.
- Your reports help. If you spot something out of date, tell us. We'll look into it and fix it in our next monthly pass, or sooner if it's urgent.
- When we update a guide, we fix the detail and the official link that backs it up.
What the “Verified” badge means
Verified October 2026 (example of the badge)
The “Verified” badge shows the month we last went over that guide and checked its key details against official sources.
It doesn't mean every detail on the page was re-checked that month, and it can't promise nothing has changed since. That's why our guides link the official sources: use them to confirm what matters before you book.
Costa Rica is the only trip in our guides a member of our team has taken first-hand. See the Costa Rica trip →
Spot something we missed?
Thank you, truly. Tell us the guide, what's changed and, if you can, a link to the official source. We'll look into it and update the guide.
Earth Adventure Travel is a small team that cares about getting this right. We only change the date after we've actually gone back over the guide.
